The women’s semi-finals are set at the 2014 Western & Southern Open with 2013 finalist Serena Williams taking on former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki, and former champion Maria Sharapova meets No.9 seed Ana Ivanovic.

In the first semi-final of the day, Serena and Wozniacki meet for the second time in just a week. The two had an epic three set battle in Montreal, with Serena clinching the win 7-5 in the third. Serena leads their head-to-head 7-1.
"We've always been close, so that doesn't really matter. We're both fighters and once we're on the court we both want to win," Wozniacki said. "She beat me last week 7-5 in the third, which I would like to get my revenge for, but it's going to be tough.”

The top seed was the first of the two to advance to the semi-finals today, rolling past former champion Jelena Jankovic  6-1, 6-3. Williams has yet to lose a set this week, though she did face some tough matchups. In her opening round, she battled past former US Open champion Sam Stosur in two tiebreak sets.
