Amar'e Stoudemire signs one-year deal with Miami Heat

Amar'e Stoudemire is bringing his talents to South Beach.
Amar'e Stoudemire is heading back to his home state of Florida as he just signed a one-year deal with the Miami Heat. Although the Heat have announced the signing, terms of the deal were not released. According to USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt, Stoudemire signed a one-year contract worth $1.5 million.
This is a great value signing by the Heat. Stoudemire may be on the tail end of his career but he is still a sizeable and solid player off the bench. Last season, Stoudemire split time between the New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks and averaged 11.5 points, 5.6 rebounds in 21.1 minutes while shooting 55.7 percent from the field. Injuries caused Stoudemire's career to take a big step back however, the former All-Star should excel with the Heat in a limited reserve role.
With the recent addition of Gerald Green and now Stoudemire, the Heat could be one of the top playoff teams in the East next season. Rookie Justise Winslow, Green and Stoudemire will provide much needed depth for Miami. Also, the Heat boast an excellent starting unit of Goran Dragic, Luol Deng, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Hassan Whiteside. The Heat missed out on the playoffs last season but some shrewd moves by Pat Riley has Miami primed to be one of the better teams in the East next year.
