“Russell Westbrook’s road to stardom did not come easy. He entered high school at a 5'8 frame & didn’t play varsity basketball until his junior season. He eventually grew to 6'3 and averaged 25 points & 8 rebounds his senior season. He was heavily under recruited and was rated a 3* prospect- having signed with UCLA over offers from Arizona St, Kent St, Creighton, Miami, & San Diego. Westbrook was a reserve to future NBA PG Darren Collison his freshman year at UCLA- so he only averaged 3 points in limited minutes. His sophomore season he was able to showcase his incredible athleticism and averaged 13 points, 5 assists, & 4 rebounds. That was good enough to get him selected with the 4th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics (moved to OKC that year). Westbrook has continued to improve each year- having become a superstar in the league. He is widely considered a top 5 player, and put up huge numbers this year with 24 points, 11 assists, & 8 rebounds. He & Kevin Durant have been amazing these playoffs, having knocked off San Antonio and holding a 2-1 series lead over the Warriors. Can OKC push for an NBA Championship?” by @recruithistory on Instagram http://ift.tt/1Vhk3b3
